MANILA - Operatives from the Manila Police Department (MPD) confiscated boxes of fake slimming pills and energy enhancers in a raid in Sta. Cruz and Binondo in Manila.

The fake products, worth about P2.5 million, were taken from eight different stores in the area.

According to MPD Chief of Staff Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz, they conducted raids after receiving complaints from some consumers.

The confiscated products will be sent to a laboratory for analysis.

A storage facility in Soler Street in Divisoria, believed to be the source of the counterfeit items, was also raided.

Cruz said the store owners will face appropriate charges once the products are proven to be fake.

The said stores were previously raided by operatives from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Bureau of Customs, and the Food and Drug Administration. -- report from DZMM
