MANILA – Two foreigners who were running a business process outsourcing (BPO) firm were arrested by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents on Sunday.
Canadian David Gilinsky and British Paul Fischer, operators of Makati-based Proact Telemmarketing Inc., are accused of illegally extracting data from other companies, a violation of Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The foreign nationals' 28 employees were also arrested by NBI Cybercrime Division agents, who were armed with a search warrant.
NBI agents seized the firm's IT and telecommunications equipment, such as desktop computers, phones and servers. – report from Ricky Velasco, dzMM
