MANILA - Five half-naked protesters led a picket at the Senate gates to denounce the Senate’s handling of the pork barrel scam.
The group, called “Katipunan Kontra Korapsyon” staged a “Hubad na Protesta” to call on legislators not to conduct further inquiries in aid of legislation but instead have cases immediately filed against those allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam.
Carrying placards with the words “Tanda, Pogi at Sexy Arestuhin Na!” they called on the arrest of the three indicted senators over the scam: Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
They also slammed people whom they called as “epalists” who they say have waded into the issue, among them blue ribbon committee chair TG Guingona; Senators Chiz Escudero, Miriam Santiago, Franklin Drilon, and Alan Peter Cayetano; Sandra Cam; Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, rehabilitation czar Panfilo Lacson, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The group said the issue has been dragging for so long that the truth has been held “hostage,” pointing out inconsistencies in the different versions of lists of allegedly involved officials that have come out.
“Pababago-bago. Bakit hindi ihabla agad kung ano ang nasa affidavit na ‘yan o sinumpaang salaysay na ‘yan. Dapat ‘yan dinadala kaagad sa korte. Ano ang korte? Sandiganbayan,” said Robertson delos Santos, spokesperson of the protesters.
