MANILA, Philippines – Two alleged drug dealers were arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Counter Intelligence Division in a home in Libertad, Pasay City on Thursday.

The suspects, identified as Reynaldo Marquez and Ryan Pineda, were caught by authorities hiding inside a closet in one of the bedrooms.

Dave Segunial, chief of the NBI Counter Intelligence Division, said authorities found it difficult to arrest the suspects because the residents may have been protecting them.

“May mga relatives, magkakamag-anak, expected na sa mas malakas ang suporta ng mga residente within the area,” said Dave Segunial, chief of the NBI Counter Intelligence Division.

NBI agents found 13 sachets of shabu and a 9mm gun inside the house.

Cytotec pills—ulcer medicine commonly used as an abortifacient—were also recovered from Marquez.

However, he denied that he was selling the drug.

Both suspects also denied allegations that they are drug dealers.

NBI said the suspects will face charges for violating RA9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. -- Report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
