MANILA - Two suspected carnappers were arrested by police in an entrapment operation in Sampaloc, Manila on Friday evening.
Sr. Insp. Rommel Geneblazo, chief of the Manila Police District's Anti-Carnapping Unit, said operatives posed as buyers of a brand new van which was being sold by the suspects for only P120,000.
"Nagkaroon ng transaction yung ating asset doon sa mga carnapper. Binebenta ng P120,000 so napakababa. Yung halaga nitong van nasa P1.2 million," he said.
The van, which had been used by its owner for only three days, was stolen last May 3 while it was parked along a road.
The arrested suspects were identified as Von Grafilo and Christopher Inonog.
Both denied the accusations against them and said they did not know that the vehicle was stolen.
They said they were only ordered by a certain alias Mac to deliver the vehicle.
"Bibigyan daw po kami ng P10,000, tig-P5,000 daw po kami," Inonog said.
Manhunt operations against the suspects' cohorts are ongoing. -- Report from Zandro Ochona, dzMM
