MANILA, Philippines - Many new vehicle license plates remain unclaimed at the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
LTO spokesperson Jason Salvador said about 7,000 new plates issued under the government’s standardization program remain unclaimed.
“We’d like to inform vehicle owners about this so they would know,” he said. “They should be asking their (vehicle) dealers to claim the plates already.”
Salvador said dealers already know the availability of the new plates since the LTO had announced it in media.
“If you are an owner of a motor vehicle registered during that period (Feb. 17 to 28), you should already have the new plates by now,” he said.
The new plates belong to the first batch, specifically for vehicles registered in Metro Manila from Feb.17 to 28 this year.
Bearing security features and a new streamlined design, the plates started arriving early this month.
