MANILA, Philippines – A road accident in the “killer highway” in Barangay North Fairview, Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City, left one driver injured Thursday.

Driver Joel Cunanan said a Claro Transit bus driven by Joselito Montaje slammed into his Nova bus before 5 a.m.

Cunanan said he was driving towards Philcoa at a speed of just 20 kph.

Montaje was pinned to the steering wheel and was rushed to the East Ave. Medical Center to be treated for injuries.

Cunanan, meanwhile, obtained a bump on the head.

Passengers of both buses were not hurt.

Commonwealth Avenue was dubbed a “killer highway” due to the number of fatal accidents in the area.

International experts have cited the use of concrete barriers, improper position of pedestrian lanes and series of U-turn slots as some of the road hazards that cause accidents along Commonwealth. -- Report from radio dzMM
