MANILA, Philippines – A parking attendant was shot dead in Makati City before dawn Friday.
Rowel de Guzman, 28, was found dead at the corner of Pasong Tirad and Yague Street in Barangay Tejeros at around 4 a.m.
Some witness said at least five men were seen running after de Guzman.
De Guzman was then shot multiple times at the corner of Pasong Tirad and Ponte Streets. He was able to walk for several meters before finally falling down on Yague Street.
Abraham Mediana, de Guzman’s uncle, said some witnesses told him that they saw the victim drinking with his assailants before the shooting occurred.
“Ang sinasabi ng mga nakausap ko, kainuman niya din daw yung bumaril pero kumbaga hindi niya akalain na ganoon ang gagawin sa kanya, nung pauwi na siya doon siya sinundan,” Mediana said.
Mediana added the witnesses declined to further give information out of fear.
“Natatakot ang mga tao dito na magsalita eh. Kasi may posibilidad na taga-dito din [ang mga bumaril],” he said.
Initial police investigation said a .38-caliber pistol was used in shooting down De Guzman.
Police also declined to give details on the case in order not to put their investigation in jeopardy. – reports from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM; and Bettina Magsaysay, ABS-CBN News
