MANILA – Maynilad Water Services Inc. on Friday advised its customers of possible service interruption due to lower water supply from Angat Dam.
Cherubim Ocampo, Maynilad Assistant Vice President for Corporate Communications, said the pressure of water coming into the service firm's reservoir was only at 38 to 39 cubic meters per second (cumecs) as of Thursday afternoon.
Ocampo explained that this is lower than the normal flow of 42 cumecs.
Ocampo said consumers from elevated areas and those at the periphery of the distribution networks will particularly experience easing of pressure of water supply.
Maynilad manages the water services of the western zone of Metro Manila.
Ocampo said Maynilad was not notified by the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) regarding the lowering of water allocation.
''Wala kaming nakuhang advance notice.
Water level at the Angat Dam continues to plummet. As of 6 a.m. today, its water level was at 178.88 meters above sea level.
Ocampo said Maynilad has started making system adjustments. Only after this can Maynilad determine the specific areas that will be affected by the service interruptions.
NWRB Executive Director Sevillo David, Jr., meanwhile, said the board has not yet made any decision to lower the allocation for Maynilad.
So sa ngayon walang abisong binibigay."
