MANILA - A departing passenger collapsed on the floor at the immigration counter of the departure area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
Angelita Baroso of Marilao, Bulacan lost consciousness as she was having her family's documents processed at the immigration counter.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Baroso's husband Jing said he was shocked to see his wife sprawled on the floor unconscious.
He said he was not able to notice his wife fall to the ground until an unidentified employee of Duty Free Philippines who was passing through saw and heard their daughter crying.
Immigration officers immediately responded and called the airport's medical staff.
According to Baroso, she could no longer bear the heat at the airport, which was aggravated by the long queues at the immigration departure area.
Responding airport medical staff was able to revive Baroso while immigration officers gave her bottled water and sandwiches.
She and her family were able to board the Cathay Pacific flight with connecting flight at Hong Kong for London.
Just last month, a girl also collapsed due to heat inside NAIA-1.
No other than President Benigno Aquino III and Transportation Secretary Emilio Abaya made a public apology due to the unbearable heat inside the airport. -- By Raoul Esperas
