MANILA, Philippines - Incumbent Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has finally gone on record that he will run for re-election in the 2013 polls.
"Oo, tatakbo ako," Lim said.
Lim said that he's still looking for a possible running mate.
Last week, incumbent Vice Mayor and Lim's former running mate, Isko Moreno, took his oath as a new member of the United Nationalist Alliance, a coalition of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) party of former President Joseph Estrada's PDP-Laban.
Estrada has long been rumored to be nurturing plans to challenge Lim in the mayoralty race next year but has not categorically declared his bid.
Estrada recently purchaed a house in Sta. Mesa, Manila, which further fueled talks of his bid.
Lim had said that if he was going to run, Moreno would be his running mate. But with Moreno's change of heart, Lim only had one thing to say.
"Good luck," Lim said.
