MANILA, Philippines – An estimated P1.5 million worth of property was destroyed when fire razed a residential area in Banawe Street, Barangay Sta. Domingo in Quezon City early Sunday morning.

The fire started at 7:58 a.m. in the garage of a two-storey home owned by a certain Richard Tan.

Fire Marshall Sr. Supt. Jesus Hernandez said there was an electrical short-circuit in the house, and the blaze spread quickly due to the highly flammable spray paints and other paints stored in the building.

The fire reached the second alarm before being declared out at 8:40 a.m.

The fire also wound up damaging two buildings near the house – a five-storey residential/commercial building, as well as another house.

No one was reported hurt in the incident. -- Reports from Dennis Datu and Dexter Ganibe, DZMM.
