MANILA -- Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Jose Angel Honrado has no plans of resigning despite calls from a lawmaker that he quit his post.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, airport officer-in-charge Vicente Guerzon said they respect the opinion of Valenzuela City Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian, but believe that the lawmaker is misinformed on what is being done to improve the facilities of the airport.
"Though we respect Congressman Gatchalian, GM Honrado has no plan of resigning," Guerzon said.
Gatchalian on Thursday said officials of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) should show some delicadeza and quit their jobs due to mismanagement.
Gatchalian also filed House Resolutions 909 and 1013, calling on the House to probe into the management and operations of NAIA and MRT, respectively.
According to Guerzon, the airport authority is willing to attend the congressional inquiry.
He said they are confident that they can explain to the committee the projects being undertaken and the future plans for the airport.
He also said the tag of being one of the worst airports is currently being addressed.
The travelling public will soon benefit from all the improvements being undertaken by the airport authority, Guerzon said. -- By Raoul Esperas
