MANILA, Philippines - Parañaque Rep. Edwin Olivarez went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) headquarters on Wednesday morning to give his statement regarding the Silverio compound riot last April 21.
Justice Secretary Leila De Lima had ordered an investigation into the violent demolition, wherein a 21 year-old man was killed during a clash between police and Silverio compound residents.
Olivarez said he will also submit his affidavit on Thursday.
"Naimbitahan ako ng NBI kaugnay sa isinasagawa nilang imbestigasyon. Kung ano talaga nangyari, nagbigay na ako ng statement," he said.
He said a "status quo" is being enforced at the compound. "Walang nagde-demolish. Magkakaroon muna ng imbestigasyon."
Olivarez will also file a resolution in Congress to investigate the incident.
"Meron na pong city ordinance way back 2003. Iyung lupa, ang beneficiary ay ang home owner. Kanila po yun. Kung gusto nilang baguhin ang batas amyendahin nila," he said.
