MANILA, Philippines – Three security guards are facing charges of frustrated murder for their alleged involvement in a shooting incident in a Quezon City supermarket last Friday, which left the grandson of former Defense Secretary Rafael Ileto wounded.
Florante Ileto tagged guard Joemar Tamayo as the gunman while two other guards ganged up on him.
Footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) at the Cherry Foodarama Supermarket shows Ileto arguing with a security guard as he deposited a shirt at the baggage counter.
Ileto said the guard accused him of shoplifting.
“Sabi niya, ‘Possible shoplifting po kasi.’ Sabi ko, ‘Paano magiging shoplifting eh dine-deposit ko nga ‘yung gamit ko.’ Tapos noong binulatlat na niya nakita niya ‘yung resibo. Sabi ko, ‘Ayan, resibo. Hindi naman ako magnanakaw,’” said Ileto.
Ileto said Tamayo then joined the argument and they began pushing each other as things got heated up.
Other guards began to respond to the commotion.
Ileto, who is still recovering from his injuries at a hospital, said he was shot by Tamayo as he tried to run away.
Tamayo has yet to surrender to authorities, as of posting.
The supermarket management, meanwhile, has yet to comment on the incident.
