MANILA, Philippines – Two Taiwanese nationals were nabbed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into the country, the Bureau of Immigration said.

Suspects Shen Wun Bing, 34, and Lan Mao Yang, 28, acted suspiciously while being processed at the NAIA immigration counter shortly after their arrival on April 26 onboard a China Airlines flight from Taipei.
The BI said one of the suspects had been cleared for entry but returned to retrieve the hand-carried luggage of his traveling companion who was still being interviewed by immigration officers.
This prompted BI personnel to seek the assistance of NAIA customs personnel who then opened the luggage and discovered several tablets of Clonazepam and Alprazolam which were later tested and confirmed as illegal drugs.
The suspects are now under the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration (PDEA) for investigation and filing of criminal charges.
The duo will undergo deportation proceedings before the BI for being undesirable aliens.
