Man's foot severed after being hit by PNR train

MANILA -- A man lost his right foot after he got sideswiped by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train in Antipolo Street corner Jose Abad Santos in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as 43-year-old Max Padon, a construction worker.

According to Lito Liaban, foreman of Aleway Construction, they were building a riprap or a wall of rocks at a flood control canal near the train tracks when Padon attempted to cross the railway at around 7 a.m.

As Padon was about to cross the railway, he was sideswiped by a train bound for Tutuban.

The right foot of the victim was completely severed while his other foot was crushed.

He also sustained head injuries in the incident.

Padon was brought to Ospital ng Tondo for treatment. -- Report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
