MANILA -- Devotees have started gathering at the church named after Pope John Paul II at Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City ahead of the canonization that will take place later Sunday afternoon.

Two past popes, Blessed John Paul II and John XXIII, will be canonized at Vatican City.

The center of attraction at the St. John Paul II Parish is the Pope mobile, which John Paul II used in 1995 when he visited the Philippines for World Youth Day.

A number of visitors also posed for photos with the vehicle.

At the side of the church, t-shirts printed with John Paul II's image are being sold for P650 each. All proceeds will reportedly be used as church funds.

The church is expected to attract thousands of devotees throughout Sunday. -- from a report by Dexter Ganibe, DZMM
