Security personnel rescue trapped elevator passengers at Fairview Terraces on Sunday.

MANILA -- Fourteen people, including a pregnant woman, were trapped inside an elevator at Fairview Terraces mall in Quezon City on Sunday afternoon.

An elevator at the newly opened mall was going up when it fell one level at around 3:20 p.m.

Passengers, including the elevator operator, were stuck between the lower and upper ground levels for about 40 minutes.

At around 4 p.m., rescuers assisted passengers in climbing out through the elevator ceiling, and then exiting the elevator shaft to the mall area.

One of the passengers, who was hurt from exiting the elevator, was brought by mall officials to nearby Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center.
