Fire hits residential area in Malate
MANILA – Fire broke out in a residential area in San Andres, Malate on Saturday morning.
Fire Superintendent Jaime Ramirez said at least 12 apartments along Angel Linao Street were affected by the fire.
Initial report said the fire started from the house of Kagawad Erlinda Salonga around 7 a.m.
By 7:51 a.m., the blaze reached Task Force Alpha, which means that all available fire trucks in Metro Manila are required to respond.
Authorities said the fire spread rapidly because the houses were mostly made of light materials.
The fire was put out past 9 a.m.
The estimated cost of damage from the fire is at P3 million. – report from Johnson Manabat, DZMM
