MANILA, Philippines – Residents of Tucuma community in Merville, Parañaque City will not be using rocks and other hard objects against a demolition team that will destroy their homes.
Instead, they will throw bags full of human waste, mud and chili-infused water at the demolition team.
Residents made these preparations as the 45-day period given by the court for them to leave their homes lapses today.
Ramil Asturias, president of Tucuma Federation, said he told his fellow residents not to use any hard objects or firearms in dealing with the demolition team.
The 1.2-hectare lot is being claimed by Molave Development Corporation.
About a hundred residents on Wednesday tropped to the Parañaque City Hall to ask Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. to implement an expropriation ordinance, and award the piece of land to the residents.
Bernabe said he could be charged with contempt if he defies the court order.
Today’s impending demolition comes just a few days after the violent demolition in Silverio compound where a man died and at least 36 others were injured. – with reports from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM; and Jerome Lantin, ABS-CBN News
