MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Saturday that the road repairs at EDSA may not be completed by early Monday morning, the agency’s target day.

Engineer Rey Tagudando, district director of DPWH in the National Capital Region (NCR), said there could be delays on the road re-blocking along EDSA northbound, particularly in the Makati area approaching the EDSA-Ayala tunnel.

Tagudando explained that initially, it was agreed in a meeting with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) that the road re-blocking at EDSA would start on Holy Tuesday.

However, for some reason, the MMDA moved the operations to Holy Wednesday.

Despite this, Tagudando said the DPWH did its best to meet the target date.

"As agreed during our meeting with the MMDA, dapat magsastart kami Tuesday. Unfortunately, di naman nangyari, so nakapag-start kami Wednesday, meaning delayed kami ng isang araw diyan," he said.

"Marami na tayong natapos, pero marong konting delay lalo na dito sa may Makati area northbound papasok sa Ayala tunnel, 'yun lang ang nakikita nating critical. The rest, ok naman," he added.

Tagudando advised all motorists to avoid EDSA northbound on Monday since the road re-blocking may still continue.
