MANILA -- The Internal Affairs Service of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has recommended the suspension of 4 Southern Police District (SPD) cops who processed the blotter involving actor-host Vhong Navarro and model Deniece Cornejo.

Senior Inspector Eduardo Alcantara, PO3 Dalmacio Lumiuan Jr., PO3 Eugene Pugal and PO3 Rolly Laureto of the SPD's District Investigation and Detection Management Division were recommended for a 20-day suspension without pay.

They were found liable for serious neglect of duty.

The PNP said the 4 police officers failed to investigate the group of businessman Cedric Lee, who mauled Navarro in the night of January 22, before the actor signed the blotter entry on the attempted rape complaint of Cornejo.

Navarro was brought to the SPD after he was beaten up by Lee and his companions for allegedly attempting to rape Cornejo inside her condominium unit in Taguig.

The "It's Showtime" host denied the allegation and filed grave coercion and serious illegal detention cases against Lee's group.

The Department of Justice has cleared Navarro of the model's rape allegations and recommended the filing of grave coercion and serious illegal detention against the Cornejo, Lee, and 5 others.
