MANILA - Three to four lanes of Commonwealth Avenue's eastbound lane were occupied by mass-goers early morning in light of the yearly Palm Sunday.

People flocked to churches carrying their palm fronds to celebrate Palm Sunday today.

In Kristong Hari Parish in Commonwealth Avenue, the parish priest celebrated mass outside the church because there wasn't enough space to celebrate the mass within its walls.

The mass of people who attended was able to occupy three to four lanes of the road's eastbound lane.

Despite this, a number of mass-goers stayed at the footbridge of Commonwealth Market instead.

Additional town officers were deployed to manage the traffic better.

Palm frond sellers were glad that business was already doing well, given that it was still early in the morning.

More people are expected to come later this morning, following the next scheduled masses for the day. -- From a report by Dexter Ganibe, DZMM.
