MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) assured the public that it will continue to monitor the influx of passengers in different ports all over the country as part of its 'Oplan Kwaresma' program this year.

PCG spokesman, Commander Armand Balilo said they are currently on heightened alert until after the Holy Week.

Based on the latest figures, holiday travelers or outbound passengers in the National Capital Region, Central Visayas, Southern Tagalog and various other ports, have reached a total number of 64,887.

On Saturday morning, MV Saint Francis Xavier is set to leave the Manila North Harbor and will go to Cebu, Dumaguete and Zamboanga.

MV Saint Pope John Paul, on the other hand, is scheduled to leave the Manila North Harbor on Sunday morning for Cebu and Cagayan.

Meanwhile, Balilo warned the public anew against traveling on colorum vessels. He said those vessels must be reported immediately to authorities.
