MANILA – Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad) on Thursday said it will provide 78 tankers for water rationing in areas that will be hit by a 3-day water supply interruption this Holy Week.

Bim Ocampo, assistant vice-president for corporate communications of Maynilad, told dzMM's "Dos por Dos" that they will prioritize barangays that will be adversely affected by the scheduled water interruption.

Ocampo said Manila Water will also be lending 11 water trucks to augment the tankers that would be provided by Maynilad.

Here is a list of affected areas:

According to Ocampo, the water service interruption will give way to a project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) that would benefit residents in areas that are often flooded during the rainy season.

“Ang pipe realignment ay magbibigay daan sa proyekto ng DPWH. Atin pong huhukayin ang trunk line or main line para ibaon ng pailalim, para makadaan ang flood interceptor ng DPWH,” Ocampo said.

Ocampo said the pipeline that would be affected is located at Hermosa corner Juan Luna streets in Manila.

Water passing through the main line comes from the La Mesa Water Treatment Plant and Bagbag Reservoir, up to Maynilad’s service area in Cavite City, she added.

Asked why they scheduled the service interruption this Holy Week, Ocampo explained: “Medyo matagal na dine-delay. Pinakiusap po natin na sa Holy Week ito gawin dahil based sa ating data, mas mababa ang consumption dahil marami ang lumalabas ng Metro Manila.”

Ocampo also urged residents in affected areas to store water 2-3 days before the service interruption, to avoid contamination.

“Siguraduhin po natin na sapat at ligtas ang naipon na tubig,” she said.
