Baguio massacre suspect surrenders to VM Isko
MANILA – The suspect in the Baguio massacre surrendered to Vice Mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday.
The surrender came after Moreno talked to Barangay chairwoman Chit Tolentino and SPO3 Jeff Sta. Ana, who are the aunt and brother of the suspect, Philip Avinio, alias Michael.
The suspect surrendered to police as he feared for his safety.
The suspect was found in a bus station along EDSA, wearing a hooded jacket.
Manila police immediately arrested the suspect, who denied having anything to do with the massacre.
"Nasa bus na po ako nun, paluwas dito, nung nangyari ang krimen," Avinio said.
According to Avinio, he went to the Nociete residence to talk to his girlfriend Sam, hoping to get back together with her.
But Avino claimed he was not permitted to enter the house. It was a set-up, he claimed.
“Mahirap yung para kang baboy damo na tago ng tago, darating ang panahon na mahuhuli ka rin. Dito sa Maynila walang nang-aagaw ng baril,” Moreno said.
Meanwhile, Avino will be taken to Baguio City on Wednesday morning.
The remains of siblings Joey and Jacquelyn Naciete were brought back to Naguilan, La Union.
