MANILA – The 4-year-old boy, whose body parts were found disemboweled after going missing for two weeks, has finally been laid to rest.

Victim Mark Escarmosa went missing last March 19 and his mutilated remains were discovered near their home in Barangay Malaya, Pililla, Rizal only last Thursday.

The boy’s family still could not believe what had happened to the child, whose internal organs were missing when he was discovered.

Escarmosa’s grandmother Corazon is also blaming their barangay (village) officials, who was allegedly slow in taking action in searching for the child.

Had the local officials acted right away in looking for the boy, Corazon believes the child’s body could have possibly been found whole.

The barangay officials, however, denied this accusation.

While grieving for the loss of the boy, the Escarmosa family is still thankful that he was found and was given a proper burial.

Authorities said they will continue to investigate the case. – reports from Dominic Almelor, ABS-CBN News and Charlie Mendoza, dzMM
