MANILA – Three suspects who held up 10 passengers of a jeepney in Taft Avenue, Manila were arrested by police, reports said.
The suspects, police said, are members of the Bahala Na Gang and Batang City Jail, who have been arrested numerous times in the past. They were identified as Charlie Quirimit, Mark Anthony Canedo and Manilyn Fajaroa.
Police nabbed the suspects in Ermita after they held up the passengers of a jeepney, including Accounting student Danica Tamiecoz.
According to Tamiecoz, first to ride the jeepney was Quirimit and another cohort, followed by live-in partners Canedo and Fajaroa.
The four suspects declared a holdup before reaching Nakpil, Tamiecoz told police.
“Nung malapit na sa may traffic police sumenyas ung babae na parang ngayon na... Sabi po wag na daw kaming umano ilabas na lang mga gamit,” she said.
Taken from Tamiecoz was her smart phone, while the other passengers lost their gadgets, wallets and other belongings.
After the suspects alighted from the jeepney, the victims immediately sought the help of police, resulting to the arrest of the three.
Seized from the suspects were a number of wallets, a knife, one .38 caliber revolver, and a sachet of marijuana.
Their cohort, however, was able to escape with the loot. He was identified only as alias “Hanoi”.
The suspects admitted to the crime, and said they did it out of financial need.
“Hinuhuli po kasi kami sa Divisoria kaya hindi kami makapagtinda ng maayos… sumunod lang po ako para pigilan sya eh. Ayokong gawin nya un,” Fogaroa said.
“Gusto po naming humingi ng tawad sa kanila,” Canedo said.
But Tamiecoz said: “Sana forever and ever na silang makulong.”
The suspects will be facing a case of robbery holdup, police said.
