MANILA – A residential area in Brgy 900, Zone 100 in Punta, Sta. Ana was razed by fire on Friday, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
According to SFO2 Rommel Lorenzo of the Manila BFP, the fire started late afternoon Friday and reached Task Force Alpha.
Fire trucks had a hard time reaching the site of the fire at Mayon and Taal streets because of narrow roads.
In an interview with dzMM, village watchman Alvin Hernandez said the fire originated from a bakery in the area.
“Malakas agad ang apoy, hindi ko na nagamit ang fire extinguisher,” he said.
Hernandez said firefighters from Sta. Ana were able to immediately respond to the fire.
The BFP said the fire has been put under control as of posting.
The BFP has yet to determine how many houses were razed, the amount of damage, and the number of affected families. - With a report from Ricky Velasco, DZMM
