MANILA – A Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) clerk was killed after allegedly being robbed inside her house in Sta. Mesa, Manila on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Remedios Lardaus, was seen by her niece, Pamela Villesa, falling down the stairs.
Villesa said she thought the victim suffered a heart attack. However, she found strangulation marks on the victim's neck.
Crime scene investigators said the victim's wallet had gone missing. Some neighbors also said they heard the victim talking to someone before her body was discovered.
There were no signs of forced entry into the house. Police noted that the sliding doors on the house's third floor were left open.
Lardaus, a widow with no children, already had plans to retire from work, her relatives said. – report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News
