MANILA, Philippines – The Pasay City police arrested Princess Tomawis Rasuman, wife of alleged investment scam leader Jachob "Coco" Rasuman, early Thursday morning.
Rasuman's wife was arrested in Quezon City, according to Pasay City Police chief Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca.
The Pasay City police are now waiting for complainants to come forward as charges against Rasuman's wife are being prepared.
Coco Rasuman was arrested by authorities in November last year, following several charges of syndicated estafa.
The case stems from the alleged scam of the Marawi City-based Coco Rasuman Group which allegedly victimized investors in Lanao Del Sur and nearby provinces.
Aside from the Rasuman couple, also charged with syndicated estafa are Basher Rasuman, Jr., Basher Rasuman, Sr., Ema Rasuman, Vice-mayor Maning Rasuman, Jerome Rasuman and Sultan Yahya Jerry Tomawis.
Coco Rasuman's lawyer, Anthony Marvin Ponce De Leon, earlier said that Rasuman never came in personal contact with the complainants.
The charges against Coco Rasuman should not have been syndicated estafa but merely simple estafa -- a bailable offense, Ponce De Leon added.
Coco Rasuman, through his counter-affidavit, insisted that he is engaged in a legitimate car trading business.
Noting these reasons, Rasuman urged the panel of investigating state prosecutors to dismiss the charges against him. - reports from Zandro Ochona, dzMM; Ina Reformina, ABS-CBN News; ANC
