MANILA -- The Office of the Vice President has distributed 1,572 packages of relief goods to three areas in Metro Manila that were hit by fire in March.

The office dispatched relief operations teams to Caloocan, Pasig, and Manila.

Affected families in Calaanan Street, Barangay 86, Caloocan City received 700 bags of relief goods, while 550 bags were given to victims in Barangay 123, Tondo, Manila.

Residents of Barangay Malinao in Pasig City also received 322 packages from the office.

In a statement released Thursday, Vice-President Jejomar Binay said his office regularly responds to disasters through the distribution of relief goods and rescue operations.

"Sometimes, we are even the first responders to affected areas," he said.
