MANILA – Three people were killed, including two minors, when a fire broke out in a residential area in Taguig City.

The fatalities were identified as Zenaida Delos Santos and her two grandchildren, nine-year old Ronel Delos Santos and Ariana Alejado who was supposed to turn 1 year old today.

"Hindi ko ho alam kung sino sisihin ko. Hindi ko ho alam. Pagtingin ko sunog na. Sabi nga daw yung nanay ko at anak ko nasa loob," said Roel Delos Santos, son of Zenaida.

The fire, which was raised to third alarm a few minutes after it broke out, occurred past midnight in Coco Hills, Barangay Bagumbayan.

It took firefighters an hour to put out the fire. The blaze also partially damaged a nearby house.

"Ang nakikita namin dahil kasi yung bahay gumagamit sila ng gasera, at kahoy ang gamit nila sa pagluto. Pero ongoing pa rin ang investigation," said Severino Sevilla of the Taguig Bureau of Fire Protection.

The fire department reminded the public that fire incidents usually increase during the summer season. Report from Jerome Lantin, ABS-CBN News
