MANILA, Philippines – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has raised a red alert status nationwide as the Holy Week starts on Sunday.
NDRRMC executive director Benito Ramos said the red alert is for the NDRRMC personnel to be able to respond more quickly to emergency situations which may happen since people are expected to flock at terminal stations, expressways, tourist destinations and churches.
Aside from the Holy Week preparations, the NDRRMC is also on alert status because of the continuous rains in some parts of the country.
Ramos said the government agency has already released flood advisories in regions 2, 3, 4A, 5, 6, 8 and 11. – From a report by Dennis Datu, dzMM
