MANILA -- Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) arrested a 48-year-old Korean in a buy-bust operation in Bambang, Manila on Tuesday.

The suspect was identified as Kim Jeong-hee, a resident of Dongalo, Parañaque City.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr., in a statement, said Kim is a "target-listed drug personality."

Authorities apprehended Kim after he allegedly sold 886 grams of powdered ephedrine to an agent.

The chemical, which is used to make shabu, has an estimated street value of P400,000.

Ephedrine is a controlled substance under the 1988 United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, and is used in other countries as a decongestant and bronchodilator.

Kim will facing charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
