MANILA -- Summer has now officially started, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
PAGASA declared the official start of the summer season on Wednesday with the termination of the northeast monsoon (amihan).
In a statement, PAGASA acting administrator Vicente Malano said the daily air temperature in most parts of the country is expected to gradually increase in the coming days.
Weather conditions will also be generally hot and sunny due to the warm and humid air.
But Malano said there will still be isolated rains and thunderstorms, particularly over the eastern section of the country.
"Furthermore, strong easterly winds will prevail, particularly over the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao with occurrence of moderate to rough coastal waters," he added.
