Student caught with ecstasy worth P334k

MANILA - An Indian student was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Malate, Manila on Tuesday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Prabhjot Gill, was caught with 223 tablets of ecstasy with an estimated street value of P334,000.

Meanwhile, another buy-bust operation was conducted along J.P. Rizal corner Reposo Avenue in Makati, where 22-year-old Malcon Limbro was arrested.

Seized from Limbro was a box containing about 100 grams of powdered marijuana leaves worth P25,000.

The two suspects, who are currently detained in PDEA-NCR in Quezon City, will be facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

According to Jeoffrey Tacio, director of PDEA-Region 3, they are now intensifying efforts to stop illegal drug trading especially among university students. -- Report from Eric Dastas, dzMM
