MANILA - The University of the Philippines Diliman on Monday approved a proposal to move the start of the academic calendar from June to August starting school year 2014-2015.
An announcement on the University of the Philippines Facebook page said the UP Diliman University Council, composed of all assistant professors to full professors, voted 284-164 to support the shift in the academic calendar of UP Diliman from June to August 2014.
"Chancellor Michael Tan will now bring this sentiment to the next UP Board of Regents meeting on March 28 for approval. With this development, all UP constituent units will start the school year in August 2014," the announcement read.
In February, the UP Board of Regents approved, on a pilot basis, the shift in its academic calendar starting August 2014 for the following campuses: UP Manila, UP Los Banos, UP Baguio, UP Visayas, UP Mindanao, UP Open University and the UP College in Cebu.
Ateneo de Manila University and the University of Sto. Tomas have likewise approved internationalization of the academic calendar.
