MANILA -- The National Bureau of Investigation's (NBI) Intellectual Property Rights Division and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided six drug stores in Sta. Cruz and Carriedo in Manila on Thursday morning.
The operation yielded fake slimming and body enhancement products from China and Thailand.
The owners of the drug stores claimed that their products were approved from where they were imported.
They said the products passed quality product standards in China.
Authorities, however, said that while these products may be approved in China, it does not necessarily mean that they are already approved here.
The Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) said all imported products must be tested first and must pass their regulations.
