MANILA – Both the Light Rail Transit 1 and 2 and Metro Rail Transit (MRT 3) have released their operation schedules for the Holy Week.
In an advisory, LRTA Spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said LRT 1 and 2 will be closed from March 28 to March 31. The last trip for both lines will be on March 27 at 8 p.m.
"Sarado po ang LRT1&2 sa darating na 28 March hanggang 31 March 2013. Last trains mula sa lahat ng end stations sa 27 March 2013 ay 8:00 PM," Cabrera said in his official Twitter account.
LRT 1 and 2 operations will resume on April 1 at 5 a.m.
The LRT will undergo maintenance checks during the said dates.
LRTA officer-in-charge Emerson Benitez said "maintenance work will involve replacement of rails and catenary wires as well as cleaning and check-up of all LRT facilities, systems and equipment."
The MRT 3, likewise, will suspend its operations from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) said.
"There will be no MRT operations as well from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday. Regular operating schedule to resume on April 1," the DOTC said in its official Twitter account.
LRT 1 runs from Baclaran in Pasay City to Roosevelt in Quezon City while LRT 2 stretches from Recto in Manila to Santolan in Pasig City.
MRT 3, on the other hand, runs along EDSA from North Avenue in Quezon City to Taft Avenue.
