MANILA -- A traffic enforcer was widely praised by social media users after a photo of him giving food to a street child was posted on the social networking site Facebook.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer Reynaldo Umano was photographed giving food to a child under the Tandang Sora flyover at Quezon City.
The photo was taken by Mar Cheri Galvez, who uploaded it on Facebook. It gained a huge number of likes and shares on the networking site.
It was reported that Umano only had P30 left with him when the child asked him for food, but he spent all of it to buy food and drinks for the child and his sibling.
Sampung pisong pancit, sampung pisong tubig. Nung tumawid ako, pinakain ko yung magkapatid," he narrated.
Umano said he does not know Galvez but hopes to meet her someday.
He also said he did it on his own accord.
'Di ako naghihingi ng kapalit," he said.
