MANILA -- A suspected carnapper was killed while his two cohorts were wounded in a police encounter in Manila early morning on Saturday.

The three men reportedly tried to steal a motorcycle along Quirino Avenue corner Taft Avenue prior to the shootout.

The victim, who refused to be identified, said he was on his way home from a restaurant when the three men on board two motorcycles blocked him, pointed a gun at him, and attempted to steal his motorcycle.

Fortunately, the victim was able to resist the suspects. He then sped away towards the nearest police checkpoint, where cops immediately spotted the suspects.

The suspects, however, did not pull over, resulting in a shootout.

One of them was killed while the two others were hurt and brought to the hospital for treatment. -- Report from Zandro Ochona, dzMM
