MANILA – Security has been tightened in a bus terminal in Caloocan following the shooting incident there Wednesday, where a woman hit by a stray bullet died on the spot.

CCTV footage showed an armed man trying to shoot police officers. He instead shot the woman, identified as Rebecca Sepelino, who was sitting inside a bus.

“Nakita ko siya duguan na eh... may lumapit pa ngang pasahero na nagpakilalang doktor sabi nya wala na. Si lola kasi parang tumayo siya e, titingnan nya siguro yung nangyayari ayun tinamaan sya dito sa may throat,” Ronie Benitez, bus conductor, said.

Police said the suspect, wanted for a robbery incident in Olongapo City, initially identified himself as one Elmer Orcano, 18. But authorities soon found out his real name as Ramil Pecho Miklat, 30, who may be tied to a series of robbery/hold-up incidents in Olongapo.

"We found out na yung pangalan niya ay Ramil... yung pakilala niya kahapon ay 18 siya, e 30 years old na pala siya," Senior Superintendent Bernard Tambaoan, chief of the Caloocan City PNP, said.

Miklat was wounded in the shoulder after being shot by authorities, Tambaoan said. He is now recuperating at the hospital. Cases of homicide and frustrated homicide will be filed against him.

Meanwhile, the management of Victory Liner said they will install additional CCTVs around the vicinity, and will conduct security check on passengers going in and out of the terminal.

The management also said they will shoulder the funeral expenses of Sepelino.
