MANILA -- A 3-year-old girl was rescued after she was trapped in a hotel's fire escape ladder in Manila on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident happened at the Citystate Hotel in Quiapo, Manila.
According to the hotel's front desk clerk, the girl's family checked in for a room in the hotel's third floor at around 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The girl and her 4-year-old brother went missing around 1 p.m., their parents said.
It was not clear how the children reached the 12th floor of the hotel.
Hotel supervisor Willy Cansino said it is possible that the children went to the building's fire exit while playing, and climbed up to the hotel's top floor.
However, the girl might have tried to go down a metal ladder after they were trapped on top of the hotel.
Her brother stayed on the hotel's top floor.
People outside the hotel noticed the girl and notified barangay officials, who rescued the children.
The hotel management removed the ladder after the girl was rescued.
The children's parents refused to comment on the incident but blamed their nanny.
They checked out of the hotel after the incident. -- reports from Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM and Niko Baua, ABS-CBN News
