MANILA - Lawyer Levito Baligod failed to appear at a press conference in Hotel Rembrandt, Quezon City Friday morning after getting stuck in traffic.
Baligod was one of the speakers in the regular media forum but failed to appear. He sent his regrets, citing the terrible traffic in Metro Manila.
The forum came just days after pork scam whistle-blower Benhur Luy dropped Baligod as his counsel, saying the lawyer was too busy and did not have enough time for him.
For his part, Baligod denied that he had been extorting money from lawmakers so that they will not be included in the charges to be filed in connection with the scam.
Meanwhile, guests at the Rembrandt forum talked about a range of issues ranging from Philippine claims on Scarborough Shoal and Sabah, to disaster risk reduction and management.
Foreign panelists gave their observation about best practices abroad. These included emergency command centers that can be setup in a few hours using inflatable materials, emergency services, and others.
