MANILA -- A suspected drug dealer died in a shootout with police at Parola Compound in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday afternoon.
Supt. Vill Tuliao of the Manila Police Department (MPD) Intelligence Division said authorities were supposed to serve an arrest warrant against another suspected criminal in the area.
However, Gerald Marasigan, a suspected drug dealer, suddenly opened fire on police.
Police returned fire, which killed Marasigan.
The suspect's estranged wife, Maribel Garcia, identified Marasigan.
She admitted that Marasigan is a drug dealer, but she not sure if it had anything to do with the encounter.
Garcia claimed that Marasigan did not fire back at police, and that he was intentionally killed since most of the bullet wounds were in his head.
