MANILA -- The family of a decorated Philippine Army officer who died after a hit-and-run incident along the C5 highway in Taguig on Wednesday is seeking justice, as the suspect responsible for his death remains at large.

According to reports, Staff Sgt. Jonathan Yuro of the Philippine Army Provost Marshal was cruising along the C5 Highway when he was hit by an unknown vehicle driven by a still unidentified suspect.

Yuro died at the hospital due to internal bleeding and broken bones in his chest.

Yuro’s wife May Grace is hoping that the suspect’s conscience gets the better of him and surrenders.

“Makonsensya ka. Maliit pa anak namin, kinuha na ang tatay,” she lamented.

Yuro, a Gold Cross Medal awardee, was a member of the Special Forces, Airborne, and Rangers of the Philippine Army. He will be posthumously honored, according to PA spokesman Lt. Col. Noel Detoyato.

“Bihasa sya sa office work. It will take some time for somebody to take over his work,” Detoyato said.

Yuro’s relatives are hoping that someone would come forward to describe the suspect or the vehicle that hit the victim.

The Army Public Affairs Office is urging those with information pertaining to the incident to call them at 0918-893-1111 and 0917-550-6306. -- Report from Ron Gagalac, ABS-CBN News
