MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) suspended classes at the elementary and secondary levels in Manila city schools on Tuesday afternoon due to the big evangelical rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).

DepEd Director for Communications Anna Cristina Ganzon said students, teachers and non-teaching personnel were allowed to go home early to prevent further traffic congestion in Manila.

The president of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Atty. Rafaelito Garayblas, also announced the suspension of classes from 3 p.m.

The INC prayer rally is expected to draw at least 1 million members at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila. -- Reports from Robert Mano and Henry Atuelan, dzMM
