MANILA – The first trip of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT 3) was delayed on Thursday after an incident occurred along one of its tracks.
MRT General Manager Al Vitangcol III said a maintenance equipment got stuck along MRT's southbound tracks in North Avenue station.
Because of the incident, the first MRT trip scheduled at 4:30 a.m. did not push through. The first trip started at 5:12 a.m., or 42 minutes late.
The delay in trips occurred amid the test-run of the extended operating hours of the MRT.
From its regular operating hours of 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m, MRT will start its operations at 4:30 a.m. from the North Avenue station and 5 a.m. from the Taft Avenue station from February 24 until March 7.
Then, from March 10 to 21, MRT services will also be extended in the evening to 10:30 p.m. from the North Avenue station, and 11 p.m. from the Taft Avenue station, in addition to the earlier opening hours. – report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
